Overview
Clinical training includes all clinical methods of early and later medical and surgical abortion. In addition, fellows will receive training in the management of all modern contraceptive methods, with an emphasis on contraception for medically complex patients. Fellows also receive training in deep nexplanon removal in conjunction with the department’s status as a Center of Experience for Deep Nexplanon Removal.
An important benefit of the program is the variety of practice settings in which fellows encounter many kinds of patients and clinical challenges. These settings include in-hospital inpatient and outpatient abortion focused on complex second-trimester cases, an independent outpatient family planning clinic (Cedar River Clinics) whose medical director provides leadership and mentoring, and the opportunity to moonlight at two other local hospitals."
Fellows will adhere to an 80-hour work week at all times.
