Overview

Clinical training includes all clinical methods of early and later medical and surgical abortion. In addition, fellows will receive training in the management of all modern contraceptive methods, with an emphasis on contraception for medically complex patients.

An important benefit of the program is the variety of practice settings in which fellows encounter many kinds of patients and clinical challenges. These settings include in-hospital outpatient abortion focused on complex second-trimester cases, and three different outpatient family planning clinics whose medical directors provide leadership and mentoring: two free-standing clinics (Cedar River Clinics and Planned Parenthood), and a full service ob/gyn department with three hospitals.

Fellows will adhere to an 80-hour work week at all times.
