OB GYN 665 (or equivalent) and all core clerkships. Sub-Internships and the REI elective are reserved from April through October of E&F phase, for those students either committed to OB/GYN for residency or are strongly considering it. UW students will only be permitted to take 1 elective during this time period but may take another in the 2nd half of the year or if courses become available. An OB/GYN Sub-Internship is required for application to OB/GYN residency. OB/GYN courses are permission only; please contact the Clerkship Administrator if you are interested in taking one of our electives. All 6 of the sub-Internships are different, educational experiences that provide everything that students need for their application: 1. Opportunity to explore areas that you were not likely exposed to during your core clerkship. 2. Opportunity to decide if OB/GYN is the right specialty for you. 3. Graded course on your transcript or MSPE. 4. Opportunity to obtain the required Standard Letter of Evaluation (SLOE) for an OB/GYN application 5. For UW sub-Is, opportunity to get to "know" this residency program, residents, and faculty. This is most important for students who plan to apply to the UW OB/GYN residency program. 6. The non-UW sub-Is offer more hands-on experiences, as there are no residents, and are ideal for students who know they want to be a general OB/GYN and/or mainly apply to community programs.
For any student interested in exploring a career in Ob/Gyn, please contact obclerk@uw.edu to assign you to one of our Specialty Career Advisors:
