Friday afternoon, head down to Seward Park for paddleboarding or kayaking, with amazing views of Mt. Rainer and minimal boat traffic. After you're paddled out, head to Chuck's Hop Shop nearby for a well-earned fancy beer, a classic burger, and killer tater tots. Browse their extensive book collection before you head home.

Saturday morning, wake up early and check out one of the beautiful hikes within a 1-1.5 hour drive of the city. Snow Lake, Lake 22, and Bridal Veils Fall are great options. Afterward, enjoy a hearty lunch, like dim sum in the International District at Jade Garden or a traditional teriyaki. Pick a neighborhood to spend a leisurely afternoon window shopping and coffee shop hunting, like Capitol Hill or Fremont. For dinner, head to Walrus and the Carpenter for delicious oysters and cocktails.

Hobbies

Bouldering, exploring new restaurants, creative writing, film photography, Formula 1, natural wine

Afterwards, head to Anacortes to catch a ferry to Orcas Island. Spend the day hiking, kayaking, and whale-watching. Head home the next day and have a slow morning before making an afternoon trip over Chateau Ste. Michelle for a wine tasting and lunch. Stop by Lake Union on the way home to take a twilight nap by the water before spending the evening catching a movie with friends.

For your Saturday, sleep in and take a stroll to get some yummy Argentinian pastries or empanadas from BOCA in capitol hill. Head on next door and get a coffee at from espresso Vivace, my go-to drink is usually an iced chai with almond milk. With pastries and coffee (Or chai) in tow head over to volunteer park and have a picnic with friends! After your picnic take your pick of either spending the afternoon exploring the arboretum or the Seattle Asian art Museum , both located within Volunteer park.  Afterwards grab dinner either as date night or with friends, at many of the wonderful restaurants in Seattle, Asadero in Ballard if you have a hankering for some upscale Mexican carne asada, or How to cook a wolf if you want to venture over to Queen anne for some amazing in house made sourdough. To end the night, you can stay in Ballard, and head over to Bar Sabine for a couple of fun cocktails. For your Sunday morning you can pick up some donuts from top pot, and head to a rooftop if it’s a sunny day and get amazing views of mt rainier.

Hobbies

Trying new restaurants and bars! I am a foodie and like to trial many different types of cuisines whether its casual take out or a fun more upscale place for a girls night out/date night. I in that same vein, I also like to try different seasonal cocktails or go to wine gardens to spend time with friends. I enjoy going to the gym as well and if I’m feeling up for it I like to go to fitness classes with a group. I also am an avid true crime podcast listener and lover of cats, with a kitty of my own!

Get up early Saturday morning, pack a trail breakfast, and head east on I-90 to North Bend. There, you will find the trailhead to Mt. Si, a very popular and rigorous 8-mile out and back with over 3,000 ft elevation gain and spectacular views. If you are not quite feeling up to Mt. Si, a great alternative is West Tiger #3 in the Issaquah Alps with a 5.5-mile out and back and 1,950 ft elevation gain. After taking in the views and making your way back down, head into Woodinville for lunch at The PicNic Table Café. This will fortify you for an afternoon of wine tasting in the Warehouse District—I recommend LaShellé, Baer, and Pondera wineries. If you need a break, head into the Schoolhouse District for coffee and a snack at Sidekick Coffee and ice cream at Swanky Scoop. On a summer evening you can relax at the patio of Fireside Cellars (within Willows Lodge) and watch hot air balloons glide overhead. You may even hear the faint sounds of music from a concert at Chateau Ste Michelle (if you aren’t lucky enough to have a ticket).

On Sunday morning, catch some of the classic sights and sounds of Seattle. Head over to Pike Place Market. Skip the Starbucks and instead go to Café Ladro and Piroshky Piroshky for your coffee and breakfast. After exploring the market and watching the flying fish, go to the north side of Lake Union for lunch at Ivar’s. Sit on the barge and watch the boats go by while enjoying your fish and chips. For the afternoon, grab a bike and ride along the Burke-Gilman Trail to Golden Gardens Park. Spend Sunday evening on the beach watching the sunset and reflecting on your PNW adventures.

Hobbies

I love being outdoors hiking, cycling, or just out walking and exploring. I aspire to go backpacking more. You might also find me indoors doing yoga. I also love singing and dancing. I sing music ranging from early polyphony to jazz, and my favorite dance styles are bachata and salsa. Creatively, I have multiple knitting and sewing projects that are perpetually in a state of “in-progress”.

Friday: Start your weekend early and grab bubble tea from Atulea! Meet up with some friends for pizza at Blotto—be sure to order before they run out! Pick a bottle of natural wine to start sipping while you wait for a table, or get everything to go and picnic in the park. End the night with ice cream—my go-to is Salt and Straw. Saturday: Spend the day outdoors—hiking outside of the city and/or chilling in a park or by a body of water. For dinner, try the interesting cocktails and hearty plant-based food at Life on Mars! Sunday: Pick a cute cafe for coffee (I need to try many more, but my recs so far—Analog Coffee, Temple Pastries, Volunteer Park Cafe & Pantry). Go for a bike ride on the Burke-Gilman trail. End up at a brewery in Ballard—enjoy the backyard at Urban Family, experience some creative sours at Great Notion, or try another of your choice!

First wake up and get French pastries at Bakery Honore then get coffee around the corner at Cloud City Coffee. Then have lunch at one of the multiple Ethiopian restaurants in the city. Then head down to Carkeek park and go on a short urban hike that opens to the beach. For dinner get takeout Thai food at Thai Ocean, then head up to a local rooftop and watch the sunset with unobstructed views of Mount Rainier (south) and the Olympic mountains (West). The next morning, head up to Communion bar and Kitchen for some brunch and drinks (think amazing soul food with inspiration/fusion of Ethiopian/Vietnamese/Creole and other cultural cuisines). One of my favorite restaurants by far.  End the night with a glass of wine at Tapas Lab in Greenlake.

Hobbies

I really enjoy Octavia Butler novels and other novels written by Black and African writers. I love going on short nature walks, swimming in lakes (which Seattle has an abundance of), and baking sweet treats for family and friends.

New-York-Times-column-inspired 36 hours in Seattle

Start the day with brunch at one of the many restaurants near Greenlake: Pete's Egg Nest or 65th Street Cafe & Restaurant. Then, burn those calories with a scenic walk or bike ride around the 2.8-mile urban lake loop, soaking in the sun and the lush greenery. Next, rent a pedal boat from the Boathouse and spend an hour or two out on the water enjoying the cool breeze. Afterward, go to happy hour and enjoy a couple of ciders (my go-to) before heading off to Laugh's Comedy Club in Roosevelt. Enjoy great appetizers, burgers, and drinks while you laugh your guts out. Finally, go home, cuddle with your SO, pet, or yourself, and fall asleep to a Netflix movie. This is what I call a living room slumber party.

The next day, sleep in (because you deserve it) and take a long shower using an Aromatherapy Shower Steamer. It's like a bath bomb for showers. Then, get your nails done at Excellent Nails in Wallingford. Spend the rest of the afternoon exposing your tastebuds to authentic East African, West African, and Caribbean cuisine. Pam's Kitchen in Wallingford has delicious Caribbean food. In addition, there are plenty of highly rated  Ethiopian spots in the Cherry Hill area. For West African food, try fried plantains, couscous, fried fish, and Benin jollof rice at Bantaba African Restaurant in Lynwood. While in the area, visit Achegust African Fabrics to check out the Ghanaian textiles, clothing, accessories, and skincare. Finally, hit up the Alderwood mall and upgrade that wardrobe so that you can dress for success!

Hobbies

As a child, I aspired to be a Disney Channel star. Though things didn't work out, I still channel my inner "That's So Raven" acting skills to create educational and funny videos on TikTok/Instagram. My videos raise awareness about bias in medicine and its impact on black women. Additionally, I showcase the challenges and barriers that First-Generation and/or immigrant students face when pursuing careers in medicine. I love to dance, particularly in the mirror, while pretending to be Beyonce. I also enjoy Salsa and Bachata dancing at Century Ballroom. My husband and I often host dinners and game nights with friends and family. He's a fantastic cook, and my hobby is eating his food. I've been off my Peleton game, but I'm a tread type of girl who occasionally cycles. Would like to read more, travel, and experience nature. I just don't like bugs!

Start with breakfast at Volunteer Park Cafe & Pantry, a sunny, plant-filled breakfast spot in capitol hill. Take your coffee to go and walk around the nearby Volunteer Park - stop in the Seattle Asian Art Museum and the Volunteer Park Conservatory while you're there. Then head to Golden Gardens Park to spend your afternoon lounging on the beach, eating lunch and artisanal popsicles and slushies from Miri's (the beach cafe), and staring blissfully at the mountains on the Olympic Peninsula across the Sound. Stake out a bonfire pit early so that you can watch the sun set over the Olympics and then set up a bonfire - don't forget the smores ingredients! Sunday: grab donuts from Top Pot donuts on your way downtown, where you'll hop on the ferry to Bainbridge island. Wave hello to Mt. Rainier looming behind the city while you're on the boat. After disembarking, head to the Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve for a nice outdoor stroll. Next up is the main street on Bainbridge island, where you'll spend your afternoon hopping between winery tasting rooms. After scratching your sommelier itch, get back on the ferry to make it back to Seattle in time for dinner at Harry's Fine Foods in Capitol Hill.

A good day usually starts with a bagel. The wood fired bagels from Eltana are delicious. Use this breakfast to fuel a morning hike. Still so many to do and explore but I loved Margaret's Way, just 25 minutes drive east in Issaquah, this is a beautiful trail meandering through ferny forest, stream crossings and mossy tree trunks. On the way home, jump in Lake Washington at Madrona Beach. Make your way to Chucks for a beer (or a boozy slushy) with a co-resident. Dinner time - try Taurus Ox, a casual neighborhood Laos restaurant - everything is delicious but the mango sticky rice is a must get for desert. Sunday - hop on a bike and make your way to Squirrel Chops for some coffee and a breakfast sandwich before taking a book and blanket to Volunteer Park. Pit stop at Columbia City Bakery before making your way to the airport.

I love everything about OB/GYN so I'm pretty sure I want to be a generalist. The variety is wonderful - labor and delivery, clinic, the OR, short-term acute care and long-term relationships with patients throughout their lives. I am also interested in medical education but just trying to take everything in so far!

New-York-Times-column-inspired 36 hours in Seattle

Friday night - stop by Gasworks to take in the view, followed by dinner at Revel where you MUST order the crab noodle (maybe the best dish in Seattle), followed by a Belgian beer at Brouwers around the corner. Saturday - wake up early and head out to one of the many wonderful hikes within an hour drive on I-90 (Mt. Si, Mailbox, or McClellan Butte are my favs) for a great view of Mount Rainier, the Cascades, and the city. After a quick shower, swing through Pike Place to take in the sights and grab a hombow at Mee Sum Pastry, then head out to Ballard for a brewery crawl starting with Stoup and Peddler. Sunday - probably running into Bryn at Temple Pastries or Raised Donuts, then a quick stroll around Seward Park before heading back to the airport!

Hobbies

I love to hike/backpack, road bike, ski - basically anything outdoors. I also am very into baking and cooking and love hosting friends for dinner parties in our backyard. I also play on a rec soccer team (go Melonheads) and have recently developed an interest in pickleball!

Sunday morning - Pick up Rubenstein's bagels for breakfast and take to Olympic Sculpture Park for nice views before leaving!

The privilege to advocate for patients’ reproductive healthcare rights is initially what attracted me to a career in OB GYN. I am interested in the intersection of policy and medicine and hope to pursue projects that assess healthcare disparities/inequities and social determinants of health. I am currently undecided on whether I will pursue a fellowship or a generalist career.

Friday night - Happy hour and dinner at Rione XIII, dessert at Molly Moon’s Ice Cream. Saturday - Start the day with brunch at Oddfellows in Capitol Hill, make your way to the Chihuly Glass Museum (worth the hype and the price of admission, highly recommend watch the glass blowing demo) and admire the Space Needle. Time for lunch at Monsoon, delicious Vietnamese food. Walk off lunch at the UW Arboretum (highly recommend the Japanese Garden) or Discovery Park (recommend South Beach Trail). Enjoy dinner with a view Ray’s Café. Sunday morning - Go to Pike Place Market and grab a delicious pastry from Le Panier and a coffee from the OG Starbucks and explore the market before going to the airport.

Hobbies

I love listening to NPR podcasts, specifically This American Life, Planet Money and Freakonomics. I enjoy spending time outdoors - running, hiking, camping, and skiing. Love a good HIIT workout on YouTube (highly recommend Heather Roberston) when exercising outside isn’t feasible. Wake up early (4:30/5), drive towards Snoqualmie Pass, pick one of the many hikes between exits 32 and 52 off of I-90 (I’m currently a fan of Kendall Katwalk, only 50 minutes away!) hike the hike, see the views, jump into an alpine lake, drive back to Seattle. If you’re fast, you’ve made it back by 2pm. Go to Analog Coffee/B-side and get the veggie toast and a coffee of your choice. You can eat it there or mosey on over to Volunteer Park. Enjoy the park (read a book, take a nap, walk through the gardens, people watch, go to the Asian Art Museum). Now it’s time for ice cream. Personally I’m a fan of Frankie and Jo’s, but within a 10 min walk other great options include Salt & Straw and Molly Moons. Go to Elliott Bay Book Company. Buy a book, or not. Grab your friends, a sweatshirt, takeout, and drinks and head over to Golden Gardens for a great sunset. Have some more drinks, or go to sleep, you woke up early. Next day: wake up, go to Sea Wolf and get their seasonal savory and sweet pastries. Get coffee at Milstead, enjoy them both at Gasworks Park. Read the book you bought yesterday. Rent bikes and take the bus up to Discovery Park. Bike down the Elliott Bay Trail to the waterfront (it’s all down hill!). Wander through Pike Place Market. Have a Rachel’s Ginger Beer. Before you leave go down to Georgetown and buy a slice of cake at Deep Sea Sugar and Salt. Eat it right then and there or save it for the plane. Or buy two slices and do both. Wave goodbye to Mt. New-York-Times-column-inspired 36 hours in Seattle

Go to Mamma Melina’s for happy hour and enjoy yourself a nice glass of sparkling rose. The next morning, get an early start and see some of the beauty that this state has to offer (Colchuck Lake, Mt. Pilchuck, Mt. Ellinor, just to name a few!). Treat yourself to some take-out Thai with your best co-residents on one of many Seattle’s rooftops. Then, hop on your bike and enjoy a lovely ride around Mercer Island.

Hobbies

Hiking, road biking, Peloton, and finding new places for Happy Hour!

Oof, this is hard! Friday – head downtown and check out Pike place (get a beef and cheese piroshky from Piroshky Piroshky and then a marionberry pie yogurt cup from Ellenos!), then head to Old Stove Brewery for some nice water views OR to the Nest for a rooftop bar. Then for dinner, head to The Pink Door! // Saturday – wake up early and drive to Mt. Rainier. My favorite hike so far is Tolmie Peak! It is beautiful in October. Then if you make it back at a decent time, head to Belltown for some dinner and drinks. // Sunday – This day is hard. This is your chill day. Options include walking onto a ferry and heading to Bainbridge island vs. going to Golden Gardens for a beautiful beach day. Can’t go wrong with either! Definitely need to grab some Tacos Chukis at some point during the day.

Hobbies

Basic things – traveling, cooking, baking, hiking, yoga, barre, peloton, forcing my introverted co-residents to hang out with me (ahem, Joy).

New-York-Times-column-inspired 36 hours in Seattle

Wake up early-ish (8-9 am?) and bike to Sea Wolf Bakery in Fremont grab a coffee and the best chocolate croissants you’ll ever eat outside of Paris. Be sure to get some of the croissant brittle and savory lye rolls for snacking on throughout the day. Head over the Husky stadium on the Burke Gilman trail (wave at your hardworking co-rezzies in the UW med center on the way!) and take the Link lightrail downtown and catch a ferry to Bainbridge Island. Bike around the island, stopping at wineries at your leisure to drink wine and eat charcuterie, and catch the ferry back in the afternoon. Rejuvenated after your nap on the ferry, enjoy biking the hills of aptly-named Capitol Hill. Shower and head into Ballard. Grab a drink and appetizer while you wait for your table at Walrus and the Carpenter where you slurp down some oysters and dinner. Walk around and gaze at the water briefly to make room for ice cream at Salt and Straw. Stop by a few of the breweries (there are 5+ within a 3 block radius!) and head home to bed before midnight because you’re in your late-20s now and need sleep. Go to Portage Bay for brunch the next morning where your breakfast is technically healthy because you’re eating lots of berries with your bananas fosters french toast and mountain of whipped cream. Stop by the International District for some a banh mi and a bubble tea for your flight/train/car journey home!

Hobbies

Eating, trails +/- running, rock climbing, backcountry skiing, mountaineering, camping in foreign countries

I love OB & GYN which is why my future plans include practicing as a generalist! My specific interests include global health, reproductive justice, and family planning. On a macro level, I want to address the unique social determinants that create barriers to women’s healthcare.

Wake up at 9 & get the yummiest carbs from Sea Wolf Bakery in Wallingford. Then head downtown and spend the morning in Pike Place Market (visit the gum wall, peruse the bookstores, sample the jams!). Clam chowder at Pike Place Chowder and some fresh mac n’ cheese from Beecher’s for lunch. Then walk down to the waterfront and walk along the Pier to the ferry terminal. Take the ferry to Bainbridge for afternoon wine tasting and beautiful views of the city. Back to Seattle in the evening for a delicious dinner in Cap Hill or Belltown (so many options—Thai, poke, Italian, you name it!) and end the night with drinks at Bathtub Gin and Co in Belltown. Wake up the next morning and go for a nice walk at Green Lake, Discovery Park, or Gasworks park. Stop for a delicious brunch on the way out!

Hobbies

Hanging out with my co-rezzies, eating my way through Seattle, dancing, hanging out on or near the water, and traveling the world (**on hold, thank you COVID).

I like everything (...probably why I chose OBGYN) and plan to be a generalist! My work study job in college was supporting patients during abortions at the local Planned Parenthood, which sparked my interest in OBGYN and continued passion for reproductive justice and family planning. I'm on our hospital's Resident IT Committee and was a "SuperUser" for our Epic transition. I'm interested in how we can use EMRs to improve the efficiency and safety of our work.

So little time, so much to do! I'd start Friday night with drinks - Unicorn Bar is hilarious and has great drinks and arcade games. Head to the Chihuly Gardens and Glass on Saturday morning and be amazed by the glass ceiling room. Wander down to Pike Place Market and watch the fish slinging, get free samples at Beecher's Cheese, and take a picture in front of the neon sign for the 'gram. Walk on to the ferry to Bainbridge Island and spend the rest of the day in the cute shops downtown, a winery, or take in some nature at the Bloedel Reserve botanical gardens. Then ferry back to Seattle at night offers great views of the city lights. Finish it off with a Sunday morning walking donut tour - in Cap Hill you can hit Mighty-O, General Porpoise, and Top Pot easily!

Hobbies

According to our Myers-Briggs tests, I'm the most introverted resident in the program! When I'm not recharging my introvert batteries by jammin' on my planner or crafting you can find me hanging out with my co-residents for dinner/drinks, a great sunset, or a viewing of the most recent Bachelor/Bachelorette episode. Other favorites include: camping, long walks exploring new neighborhoods, crafting the perfect charcuterie board, yoga, searching antique stores for treasures, and baking.

Land and go to dinner and cocktails! Stop by the Nest for breathtaking Seattle skyline views. Wake up and get an early morning workout at OTF (yes I'm that person). Go home and glam up. Walk down to Pike Place Market and buy some pretty flowers, eat chowder at Pike Place Chowder if it’s a cold day out. Pick up some passionfruit at the market (in the summer). Head out to Woodinville and do some winery hopping (sometimes you can bike from Seattle and back which is also gorgeous!) Head back and eat at a yummy restaurant (love to try new things) then watch the sunset at Golden Gardens with some drinks in hand, possible bonfire. Sunday do a hike, usually involving breathtaking views of lakes or day trip to Bainbridge/or any island! Finish the weekend with a rooftop barbecue with friends and enjoy some chill night by a fire.

Hobbies

Spending time with my goldendoodle and partner! On my days off I have a need to be on the go all the time, I LOVE wine, happy hours, eating good food and staying active to burn all the calories I like to eat. I also love to travel!! But obviously has been difficult lately.
