Site Locations and Assignments

Students will be assigned to UWMC Montlake or UW Northwest.

UWMC Montlake

  • All students will do their labor and delivery experience at UWMC Montlake. This will be a combination of daytime shift and night float.
  • The gynecologic portion will either be at UW Roosevelt Clinic or the Women's Clinic at Harborview Medical Center. Helpful educational resources during gynecologic rotation can be found here.

UW Northwest

  • All students will do labor and delivery and gynecologic surgery at Northwest Hospital.
  • Students will be assigned to an outpatient clinic at Northwest Outpatient Medical Center, Meridian Women's Health at Ballard, or Women's Health Clinic at Mill Creek.

Prior to Your Rotation

UW students rotating at UWMC do not have additional on boarding tasks to complete prior to the rotation. If you completed a WWAMI track and this is your first time at UWMC during your medical school training, please contact the SOM Academic Affairs office at 206-543-5560 to obtain a hospital badge. The SOM Academic Affairs office is located in the Health Science Building in suite A300.

Approximately one week before the start of your rotation, you will receive site orientation information which will include your starting team assignment and the contact information of the chief resident to contact to confirm where to meet your team for rounds on the second day of your clerkship.

Epic/ORCA EMR Training

UWMC Montlake

If you have not previously taken an EMR training class at UW, you will be contacted by Phaedra Allen with your training class assignment. You MUST attend this training. Failure to complete the assigned training will prohibit your access to the EMR system used at UWMC. There will not be another opportunity to make up missed EMR training classes. You will be excused from clinical duties on the day of your training which generally takes place the first Tuesday or Wednesday of the rotation at either UWMC or HMC.

If you have previously completed EMR training but are unable to access Epic, log in to the UW Medicine LMS system and look for an assigned Epic training. Occasionally, students are automatically assigned this training in connection with previous medical school trainings but an Epic module was never completed. Any assigned LMS modules regarding Epic must be completed before access can be updated. Once outstanding LMS modules have been completed, access will be updated within 1-3 days.

Link to EMR please confirm access, if you do not have access please contact IT Services.

Issues with UW Medicine or LMS account logins? Contact UW Medicine IT Services at 206-543-7012.
