Q&A
What do you like to do in your free-time?
Outside of work, I love to read, travel, and cook Italian food. Above all, I treasure time with my family.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in academic medicine at UW?
I value being part of the UW Medicine network, which lets me offer South Sound families the most current, evidence-based care close to home. My focus is keeping specialized, high-level pregnancy care accessible in the regions where my patients live.
What is one professional or academic accomplishment of which you are most proud and why?
Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, I authored a case report published in Obstetrics & Gynecology documenting prolonged viral detection in an asymptomatic pregnant patient. At a moment when very little was known about how the virus behaved in pregnancy, contributing early clinical evidence to help guide care felt especially meaningful to me.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Care for every patient the way you would care for your own family.
What is one thing that brings you joy, either inside or outside of work?
What brings me the most joy is the lasting connection I keep with patients long after their pregnancies. The cards, letters, and updates I still receive years later remind me that these relationships don't end when the pregnancy does.
What inspires you?
Watching families find strength they didn't realize they had.
When do you feel the most impactful?
I feel most impactful when careful attention to a high-risk pregnancy changes its course for the better, catching problems early and giving families a safer path forward.
