Biography
Nicole D. Fleming, MD, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist who specializes in the prevention and treatment of gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Fleming is the Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, South Lake Union Campus.
Dr. Fleming believes in a multi-disciplinary and team approach to patient care and shared decision making. Her goals are to ensure that patients and caregivers have full understanding of their diagnosis and treatment options, including availability of the latest clinical trial opportunities if appropriate. Dr. Fleming's goal is to provide a patient-centered approach to care while offering the latest innovative treatment strategies.
Dr. Fleming's clinical expertise includes clinical and surgical management of gynecologic maligancies, including ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers. She is an expert in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery, for appropriate patients with gynecologic cancers and complex gynecologic conditions.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in academic medicine at UW?
I chose to work in academic medicine and cancer center environment to ensure the highest standards of multi-disciplinary care and latest treatments are offered to my patients. In addition, I feel it is important to serve as a clinician-educator to ensure we are training our future healthcare leaders.
What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?
I love outdoor activities and an active lifestyle with my family. I enjoy traveling and learning about new cultures and environments. I am also a sports fanatic and enjoy college and professional sporting events. My family and my dog Charlie for their unconditional love and daily dose of energy.

Ovarian cancer, uterine cancer including sarcomas, cervical cancer, fertility-preservation in gynecologic malignancies.
Research Interest:
Innovative surgery and treatment of ovarian cancer, surgical outcomes research, quality improvement, ambulatory and hospital quality and efficiency.
