What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?

I love hiking, camping, cooking, gardening and spending time with my family.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in OB/GYN?

High risk obstetrics provides an opportunity to take care of patients during a unique and important time in their lives. I enjoy helping patients navigate the challenges of high-risk pregnancies and obtain the best outcome possible for both baby and parent.

What do you like about working at UW Medicine?

I like working at UW Medicine as we are a leader in high-risk pregnancy care for the Puget Sound region. We strive to provide up to date evidence-based care, patient-centered care, and emphasize teamwork and communication in all aspects of our work.

What is one professional or academic accomplishment of which you are most proud and why?

I am most proud of my work in medical education, especially in my current role as program director for the Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship. I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction educating medical trainees, as well as watching our graduates grow, succeed, and move on to their own practices after their graduation.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be true to yourself and strive to find a work-life balance that best meets your individual lifestyle and needs.

What is one thing that brings you joy, either inside or outside of work?

Spending time outdoors and trying new recipes!

What inspires you?

My patients and my students.

When do you feel the most impactful?

I believe I am most impactful when I can create a safe and rewarding pregnancy experience for high risk families.
