What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy riding my bike, yoga, backpacking, sewing and needlepoint and reading both contemporary and classic science-fiction.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in academic medicine at UW?

I work at UW because it is the place I can do the most good for patients needing assistance with family-building. I am proud to be part of a cohesive team that stays abreast of the latest research and contributes to the training of the next generation of OB/GYNs, reproductive endocrinologists and Nurse Practitioners.

What is one professional or academic accomplishment of which you are most proud and why?

As of 2024 I have a decade of experience in the field of reproductive endocrinology and fertility. In addition, my background is as a Certified Nurse-Midwife providing full scope midwifery care, work at Planned Parenthood focusing on contraception and gynecologic care, and certification in menopause care from the Menopause Society. All together, I have over 20 years' experience caring for individuals' obstetric and gynecologic needs across the lifespan.

What is one thing that brings you joy, either inside or outside of work?

Patients place great trust and vulnerability in care providers, especially when it comes to gynecology and family building. The work I do is profound- it spans from the greatest joy to the greatest heartache. Reproductive care is also complex with a constantly evolving knowledge base. I seek to provide care that is simultaneously of the highest medical quality and prioritizes the dignity and autonomy of each individual, always staying focused on that person's highest goals.
