Why did you decide to pursue a career in OBGYN?

I chose to work in academic medicine to be surrounded by other amazing smart people who, together, make a team that provides the very best care to our families.

What is one professional or academic accomplishment of which you are most proud and why?

I started the very first fetal intervention program in the Pacific Northwest in 2001, and one of the first few in the USA and have had the honor of helping many thousands of families in the 25 years since.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

Above all, to your own self be true.

What is one thing that brings you joy, either inside or outside of work?

The bright green leaves appearing at the start of a Seattle spring.

What inspires you?

The families who place their trust in me

When do you feel the most impactful?

I believe that I am the most impact when the time I take with a family translates into their comfort with difficult and uncertain decisions, knowing that I have their back.
