Biography

Jean Ruth, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who specializes in pregnancy care as well as the full breadth of benign gynecology.

Dr. Ruth believes in shared decision making and patient autonomy. She believes her role is to provide information and treatment options to empower patients to find the care that is best for them individually.

Dr. Ruth's expertise involves the care of pregnant women, as well as treating benign gynecologic conditions such as contraceptive care, abnormal bleeding, menopause care. She provides medical management, as well as surgical management including hysteroscopies, laparoscopic surgery, and minimally invasive hysterectomies.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Dr. Ruth enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, reading, and spending time with her 3 children during her free time.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in academic medicine at UW?

I chose to work in academic medicine to help improve medicine, both for individual patients and within larger systems.

What is one thing that brings you joy, either inside or outside of work?

Being in nature - realizing how small I am as compared to the natural sonders in the great outdoors.

What inspires you?

Connections with patients and feeling like I have made a difference in someone's life.
