Biography
Juniper Moon, DNP, ARNP, CNM, is a board-certified nurse midwife at UW Medical Center - Montlake, and a teaching associate in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Juniper believes that our communities deserve compassionate and empathetic partners in care. She is dedicated to building trustful relationships with her clients, promoting a standard of care that is individualized, culturally affirming, and encourages health and bodily sovereignty.
Juniper’s clinical expertise includes gynecological, perinatal, and menopausal care for women, gender non-conforming, and transgender people over their lifespan.
Juniper seeks balance through meditation, pottery, and spending time with trees.
She, however, is most lit up when sharing laughter with her family through dance and off-pitch karaoke at home.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in OBGYN?
I attended my first birth when I was 14 years old and it was immediately apparent that this was the work I was called to do. I was eager for a model of care that created space for the heart work, not only rooted in evidence but also informed our community needs. I have always seen midwives as radical change makers, holding space for the ceremony of birth while also challenging the status quo to promote better outcomes. This hopeful romanticization is what led me to a career in Midwifery.
What are your favorite things about living in the Seattle area?
My favorite thing about Seattle is the rain and the lush forests nurtured by it. I love that although Seattle is a growing city, there is a sweet commitment to maintaining green space.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by connection. The tender ways we reach toward each other expand our capacity for understanding.
