Biography
Dr. Marilyn Acquah, DNP, CNM is a board-certified certified nurse midwife with UW Medical Center-
Montlake.
She specializes in normal pregnancy and childbirth, family planning, and preventative healthcare.
Acquah provides person-centered care across the lifespan and seeks to create a space where patients feel
empowered, heard, safe, and supported.
In her free time, Acquah enjoys gardening, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in OBGYN?
I was initially drawn to Midwifery because of the abysmal maternal mortality and morbidity among Black and Brown women.
I am a passionate advocate for reproductive health, justice, and rights, reformation of maternal and infant health systems in the US, and equitable care for all.
As a Certified Nurse Midwife, I am
committed to doing my part to see it happen.
What are your favorite things about living in the Seattle area?
Seattle is breathtakingly beautiful! I love the variety of restaurants, proximity to the outdoors, and living
close to friends and family.
