Dr. Isabel Rodriguez is a gynecologic oncologist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals diagnosed with or at risk for developing gynecologic cancers. She has a particular interest in hereditary cancer syndromes and risk reduction.

Dr. Rodriguez’s clinical expertise includes the surgical and medical management of gynecologic cancers, with a focus on ovarian, uterine, cervical, and vulvar cancers. She has specialized expertise in hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic counseling, and cancer prevention strategies.


What do you like to do in your free-time?

Outside of work, Dr. Rodriguez enjoys outdoor adventures with her family, including hiking, paddleboarding, and camping in the Pacific Northwest.

 

Why did you decide to pursue a career in academic medicine at UW?

I chose a career in academic medicine because it allows me to combine my passion for patient care, research, and teaching. I’m committed to advancing the field of gynecologic oncology through research on genetics, targeted therapies, and cancer prevention—and academic medicine gives me the opportunity to translate those discoveries into meaningful treatments for patients.

What are your clinical interests?

Hereditary gynecologic cancer syndromes (BRCA1/2, Lynch syndrome, etc.
Endometrial and ovarian cancer genetics and genomics
Molecular testing and targeted therapies in gynecologic cancers
Multidisciplinary care for gynecologic cancers
Surgical management of gynecologic cancers, including minimally invasive and complex cytoreductive procedures

What are your research interests?

Hereditary cancer syndromes and risk assessment in gynecologic oncology
Genetic and epigenetic biomarkers in ovarian and endometrial cancers
Molecular testing and targeted therapies for gynecologic cancers
Translational research to bring lab-based discoveries into clinical practice
