Mentorship is the cornerstone of supporting the career development of clinician educators. Mentorship principles and the toolkit provided for developing mentor mentee relationships that has been developed by the department should be utilized by clinician educators.

Membership in Local & National Organizations

The UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology supports and encourages membership in local and national organizations. Let senior members in the department know of your interests and how we can support you in membership applications. For clinician educators, membership in APGO/CREOG and SASGOG are strongly encouraged.

Curriculum Development 

Clinician educators are expected to develop teaching curriculum. Possible sites for sharing or publication of your curriculum include:

Work Life Balance Support 

There are a myriad of institutional, local, and national resources for improving well-being as a clinician educator. A short list can be found here. 

Opportunities for Participation 

Clinician educators are the backbone of educational activities within the department. Faculty are encouraged to identify their area of focus (student, resident, fellow) and develop curricula accordingly.  

Career Advancement 

Scholarly advancement is encouraged. Becoming an educational leader in your community, nationally and internationally should be a goal.
