Why did you decide to pursue a career in OBGYN?

When I was in college and medical school, the Women’s Movement was in full swing, and I could think of nothing more empowering than spending my career providing respectful care for and with women. This has been the perfect specialty for me as it has allowed me to honor my patients’ bodies and concerns, while prioritizing education for the patients as well as young physicians. The field of gynecology has expanded over the years to embrace not just women patients, but all patients who may benefit from gynecological expertise. That commitment to caring for all patients who need us has made me proud to be an OB/GYN.

What do you like about working at UW Medicine?

My OB/GYN career began with my residency training at UW, so I am delighted to return home. The University is revered within the medical community in Washington, and our department provides the ideal blend of top-notch patient care, research and a deep commitment to education of young learners.

What are your favorite things about living in the Seattle area?

I love the varied, easily accessible natural beauty as well as the community’s focus on the environment and lifestyle, recognizing the value and contributions of our diverse population.
