Why did you decide to pursue a career in academic medicine at UW?

I chose to work in academic medicine because I wanted to be in an environment where I could simultaneously train future health care providers in OB/GYN and continue to develop my own skills by learning from others. In addition, I wanted the opportunity to continue to do clinical and translational research to improve patient care.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don't just follow the blue line. You know, when you're using Google maps and the blue line shows where you're supposed to go and it will re-route even when you are heading in the wrong direction. It's important to take time and think about if that is actually the direction you want to go instead of aimlessly following it.

What inspires you?

My friends and family.
