About the Clerkship Site
We are a group of 5 general OB/GYN physicians. We all perform gyn surgeries, provide inpatient obstetric care and deliveries, and maintain busy outpatient clinics. During their time at Rockwood, students will work with primarily with, Dr. Cairney and Dr. Marks. In general, students will follow the attending’s schedule while on call, in office, in the OR or time off. Students will also have weekends off to study and enjoy the beautiful weather!
Student Experience
Students will be involved in the evaluation and treatment of patients in a general OB/GYN office setting with broad-based exposure working directly with OB/GYN preceptors at the Rockwood OBGYN Center. Ultrasound is available on site, running 2 rooms continuously. There is an active clinical nurse midwive collaborative practice as well.
Surgical experiences and Labor and Delivery will be based at Deaconess Medical Center.

Orientation
Students should anticipate attending the virtual clerkship orientation on the first day of the clerkship at 8:30am Pacific Time. Students will be emailed the link to attend orientation approximately one week prior to the start of the clerkship.
Didactics
There are no formal didactics or grand rounds at this clerkship site. Didactic teaching will be conducted in the clinic setting primarily related to the patients being seen.
Transportation
Having a car is necessary for this clerkship and will not be provided. In the winter, air travel out of Spokane is often delayed by fog. All-weather tires are recommended for driving in ice and snow conditions.
