Before Your Clerkship

Four weeks prior to your rotation start date, students must complete the following steps before starting in Kalispell, MT:

  1. Email the following information to Alissa Lewis (  to ensure that hospital privileges will be ready when you arrive.
    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. Middle Initial
    4. Date of Birth
    5. Cell Phone #
    6. Email Address
    7. Current Photo for ID Badge
  2. Visit the Kalispell Healthcare Website to complete required paperwork and documentation. 
  3. Obtain immunization records (How to access your compliance documents) and email to  or submit to Student, Instructor, Resident Document Dropbox.

Office/Clinic Experiences

Students will round in the morning and work in the clinic in the morning or afternoon (depending on the MD's schedule), seeing patients with one of the three doctors learning what a general OBGYN does in practice. See sample schedule. Students could also participate in outpatient surgery at the Health Center at KRMC. Additionally, students have the opportunity to help at the Clear Choice free pregnancy clinic. 

Hospital Experience

Students will round each morning with one of the physicians each day as needed, seeing inpatients, moms, and well newborns at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. If the hospital is slow, the student schedule will be augmented with extra clinic time. Students will also have Emergency Department Experiences as the need arises.


Kalispell Regional Medical Center has Monday noon conferences for doctors. The students should attend OB and GYN section meetings, chart reviews, etc.

Transportation & Housing

Please review the Building Rules and Regulations and Housing Information documents for detailed information regarding student housing. Housing will be shared with other clerkship students. Additional accomodation of a spouse must be requested at least 30 days in advance, and is not guaranteed. Students need to provide their own vehicle for this clerkship.
