Hospital & Clinic Information
Kadlec Regional Medical Center is an acute care facility located in Richland, Washington. Approximately 2,000 babies are born each year in Kadlec Regional Medical Center's family centered birthing suites. Adjoining the Birth Center is the area's sole Level III NICU, which can accommodate a total of 27 infants (15 Level II patients and 12 Level III patients). The hospital subscribes to the Planetree model of patient-centered care. Students will precept with area physicians. The schedule generally includes having the student spend two days per week in clinic, two days in labor & delivery and one day in the OR.

Please note the following items are required to be completed prior to the start of your rotation:
- UW will send a Letter of Goodstanding indicating that you meet the immunization requirements, TB testing, and background checks.
- Complete and submit the student onboarding form 4-6 weeks prior to the start of your rotation.
- Approximately 10 days prior to the start of the rotation you will receive information to access the required Healthstream Learning Modules and simple forms to complete. Please complete the modules and return the forms prior to the first day.
Students will be on call 4 days a rotation, but will not be expected to stay if nothing is going on. If they do not stay overnight they are expected to be in clinic the following day.
First Day of Rotation
On the 1st day of the clerkship, plan to meet Brenda Porco-Smith, Physician Education Coordinator, at 10:30 a.m. in the Education Office at Kadlec Medical Center to obtain badges and safety compliance material. The Education office is located on the second floor of the Mountain Pavilion. Please contact Brenda 1 week before you start the rotation for further details if you have not received them already:

Housing & Transportation
Housing is a one bedroom fully furnished/stocked apartment approximately five miles from the hospital and clinic. It includes a community courtyard, washer/dryer, and fitness area. The apartment is approximately 2 blocks from the Columbia River and paved green belt, mountain bikes are available for rent. Public transportation is nearby, however, it is recommended student have transportation. Bicycling is encouraged!
Clerkship is located in Richland, one of the "Tri-Cities" located in central Washington in the Columbia River Valley. A source of pride for the area's 225,000 residents is the community's commitment for running and biking events on the many dedicated trails. In addition, the Columbia River provides plentiful water sport opportunities and is home to annual hydroplane race events.
