The clerkship will have Women's Health taught in 2 distinct fashions. One will be longitudinally and will be non-operative. Students will spend time at the Student Medical & Counseling Clinic at Central Washington University providing women's health to students as well as obstetrical care with longitudinal patients at the family medicine clinic. Aditionally, there will be a 3 week experience with Dr. Herman, a community OB/GYN doing consultative gynecology, operative gynecology, and potentially operative obstetrics. The specific timing for the obstetrical component will be coordinated with the other WRITE preceptors.
Students are encouraged to attend one of the live virtual clerkship orientations via Zoom (happen on the first day of every clinical rotation, i.e. "Summer A," "Summer B," etc. Please contact the OB/GYN Clerkshpi Administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org for the link to attend orientation if interested and able to do so. Otherwise, students will need to watch an older, recorded version found here.
WRITE students are required to complete all requirements of this clerkship. Students will need to review this clerkship website, particularly the sections on Requried Assignments and Student Evaluation.
Students will attend hospital rounds, surgical procedures, and deliveries with Dr. Sand. Students will take ER call when appropriate with Dr. Herman, and will attend assessment and planning of patients that present for emergency evaluation.
